• Hello,

I’m wondering if anyone knows of a plugin that does what I’m trying to do. I’ve tried searching this site as well as the web in general, but I don’t exactly know what name this might be under. Since a lot of these hopes are very specific, perhaps they might not be achieved with one plugin, but perhaps multiple plugins working together.

At the moment, I run a video game news blog. However, I’m currently working on a massive overhaul design, and I’d like to create a database/directory/listing of video games. (If there’s a plugin for it, it may or may not be specifically designed for games.) I’d like to be able to:

1.) Create a profile for each game listed, and be able to input things like the game’s title, publisher, genre, release date, platform, box art, etc. ideally with each of those being able to be called by a function that I could also call elsewhere (e.g., a widget on the front page showing upcoming release dates).

2.) Assign each news post to one, more, or none of the games. Sort of like tagging/categorizing, except it would link to the game’s profile. In the profile, there might be a “News” tab that could be clicked, and it would show any news marked with that game. I realize this could easily be done using pages and tags, but seeing how easy it is to end up with multiple tags that are extremely similar to one another, I’d like to avoid that by giving each game a unique catalog number.

3.) From each profile, in addition to there being a “News” tab, there would ideally be an “Images/Screens” tab (perhaps showing a gallery generated by NextGEN), a “Videos” tab (we can probably figure this out Viddler), a “Reviews” tab that would take the reader to a posted review of the game, etc. The profile should also be able to pull the review score from the review, and post it on the profile.

4.) Perhaps instead of having to manually create a gallery in NextGEN or a topic in Simple:Forum and then link to them individually in the game’s profile, creating the game profile automatically creates a NextGEN gallery for it as well as a discussion forum. Might be asking a bit much for a general plugin.

Basically, I’m trying to see if I can get as much of what I’m hoping for to be done without having to resort to commissioning a custom plugin, but I haven’t seen anything remotely close to what I want, and hoping someone else has.
