I’ve tried connecting to my yahoo email. I get the error saying the software connects to the SMTP server (Yahoo) but there’s a problem, probably UN, PW.

I logged out of my email, then back in, so I know UN and PW are correct.

    Any advice?

Could not authenticate your SMTP account.
This means we were able to connect to your SMTP host, but were not able to proceed using the email/password in the settings.

Typically this error is returned when the email or password is not correct or is not what the SMTP host is expecting.

    Recommended next steps:
Triple check your SMTP settings including host address, email, and password. If you have recently reset your password you will need to update the settings.
Contact your SMTP host to confirm you are using the correct username and password.
Verify with your SMTP host that your account has permissions to send emails using outside connections.

I used these settings, that I found in multiple places.

    Hi @barnesmg,

Thanks for reaching out. Usually, this can happen if your web server is blocking outgoing SMTP connection.

When you get a chance, could you please share a full error log recorded when you send a test email from WP Mail SMTP > Email Test? Here’s a screenshot for the option to get a full error log. This will give us an idea of what might be going on.

    Thanks!

Turns out the issue is that Yahoo requires you to log into your account and create a different password. Might be useful to keep in mind for others with the same issue. Not quite clear why, but Yahoo does what Yahoo wants. Gmail has the same requirement.

    Thanks for your suggestions.
