Can you send me admin access and I’ll see if I can determine what the problem is. My address is [email protected].

Uhg – I don’t feel comfortable with that sorry. I’m sure you are trustworthy I just don’t do that as a rule of thumb.

I have a variation on this.
In a new installation of the plugin it wouldn’t allow me to add any images from the media. A message block said it couldn’t add the images with no further information.

    kevjon,

If you can send me admin access to your site I can look at it to see if I can find the source of the problem. My email address is [email protected].

    Alan

I tried deactivating all the plugins relating to pictures or video etc to no effect.
The theme is Weaver II and for all posts, which includes your galleries, there are these option boxes. Maybe they indicate something that needs to be ticked:

    “Per Post Options
These settings let you control display of this individual post. Many of these options override global options set on the Weaver II admin tabs.
Display as full post where normally excerpted.
    Display post as excerpt
    Show Featured Image with post
    Show author avatar with post
Mark as a favorite post (adds star to title)
    Hide Post Format label
    Hide post title
Show link to single page icon at bottom of post
    Hide top post info line
    Hide bottom post info line
    Hide the comment bubble
Hide Sidebars when this post displayed on Single Post page.
For Masonry multi-columns: make this post span two columns. (●Pro only)
Disable Visual Editor for this page. Useful if you enter simple HTML or other code.
Allow Raw HTML and scripts. Disables auto paragraph, texturize, and other processing.
The above settings are not used by the [weaver_show_posts] shortcode.
    Per Post StyleClick for help
Enter optional per post CSS style rules. Do not include the <style> and </style> tags. Include the {}’s. Don’t use class names if rules apply to whole post, but do include class names (e.g., .entry-title a) for specific elements. Custom styles will not be displayed by the Post Editor.
Define a Custom Field called postclass to add a custom class name to the <article> section that wraps this post.
    Post Format Click for help
Weaver II supports Post Formats as shown in the “Format” option box to the right. Click the ? for more info.
Note: when you add settings for the post here, values will be created and displayed in the “Custom Fields” box.”

    Further investigation:
images will be added only if I re-upload them to the media files!
I cannot add any existing images.
    The site is knucklascastle.org.uk
I have had no problems on another site beaconhillbenefice.org.uk and like the plugin! That theme is Raindrops.

It is probably a javascript/jquery issue caused by a conflict with another plugin. With temporary admin access to your site I may be able to determine the source of the conflict. My email address is [email protected]

    Alan

I deactivated every plugin to no effect.

I have now got the site copied to localhost with all the same plugins and theme settings, and there is no problem with adding images.
I don’t actually need the maxgallery on this site (I solved a problem I had by removing a plugin so the WP gallery works now).
If I find anything I’ll let you know; thanks for your help.

I think I have an explanation, but not a solution.
This site was moved from a public_html/blog folder to the root folder, so all the permalinks still refer to the /blog non-existent folder.
This is presumably why the images uploaded since the move are available and the earlier ones are not. Whether Maxgallery can deal with this sort of situation, I don’t know; it is a quirk of WP really.
    Hope that helps!

kevjon, when you move a site, it is up to you to correct the links so that they point to the correct location of files or pages so that any installed plugins will work as expected. This is done by opening the database export file, usually a .sql file, in a text editor and doing a search and replace for every instance of the old URL replacing it with the new URL and then upload. Save and then upload the .sql file to the new database. Once it has been upload go to settings and update your sites permalinks and then test that the links are working and that the images are showing up.

Thanks for this, very helpful. I used my hosts advice on the move and thought it didn’t seem quite right. I find the whole permalinks business very confusing.
I suggest we close this now – many thanks!
