    Hi,

For some reasons, there are in fact this problem on some mobile phones. It’s the case on iOS for example (where the bug is even weirder than expected, as the panorama is here, but concentrated in a disc…).

Can you please tell me which mobile and which browser you used? That way, maybe it can help to fix the issue.

I’m sorry to tell you that, for now, I still have no idea what’s wrong on these platforms. However, I’m working on a brand new version of the library used in WP Photo Sphere (Photo Sphere Viewer). Maybe this new version will fix the issue.

This was on android 5.1.1 using the latest version of Chrome.

    I am on a Nexus 6, Android 5.1.1, Chrome 46.0.2490.76

It loads the player and displays all the controls but just gives a black box with no image, same as mentioned above.

Works great on desktop Firefox and Chrome.

I see you are working on it, just wanted to add my mobile hardware data if it can help.

Thanks for your help. It’s very weird, as it should work on Chrome, but I’ll take a look to see what’s wrong.

The weird thing is that I just tested on the same version of Chrome, on Android 5.1.1, and it works fine for me. The only difference is the smartphone, as I use a Sony Xperia Z2.

To be sure: are you using the latest version of WP Photo Sphere?

Just tried again on mine. Moto X Pure on Chrome. Latest version of Chrome and Android. No load.

Have an email we can send screen shots to?

Yep: [email protected], but I trust you, don’t worry! I won’t give up. ??

Yes, I am on the latest plugin version 3.4.1.
I have also switched to default theme and disabled all other plugins (very few used) to see if there was a conflict and no help.

Not sure that other apps on the smartphone could cause a conflict? Not sure how to test that.

I don’t think any app can cause troubles like this one. Did you try with another mobile browser like Firefox for example?

I just installed Firefox on my phone and tried it. When I click the link to load, it just says “Loading…” for ever and never loads. The black box doesn’t appear like with Chrome, but still doesn’t load.

I’ve been using the plugin on one of my sites. Great plugin, works flawlessly on Android, but the design people I’m working with all have iPhones and iPads and cannot view the panoramas I have embedded in my site. The 3.4.3 update didn’t seem to improve anything, any ideas?

The 3.4.3 update is just here to add the Dutch translation (I forgot to fill the changelog) so it’s normal that nothing has changed. I still search for a solution for this problem, but maybe it will be simpler to wait for my own 3D engine with Photo Sphere Viewer 3.0 and WP Photo Sphere 4.0 (early 2016).

I’ve figured out the cause of this error. Photo spheres from the Ricoh Theta S, which are 14 megapixels, work fine on all devices (Desktop, iOS, and Android – Chrome and Firefox). However, larger photo spheres, like this sample 32 megapixel one from the Iris360 often fail somewhat randomly on mobile devices, just like what has been described in the first post of this thread. Looking in the Firefox for Android console, I see that WebGL runs out of memory when the viewer tries to display these larger spheres on mobile devices.

It would seem then, that the solution to this issue would be to leverage the new automatic responsive image functions built into WordPress 4.4, to use a lower-resolution version when viewed on mobile devices. That would save bandwidth and loading time too. The commercial panorama viewer krpano takes this approach for mobile, and it works well. However, I like your UI and WordPress integration better. ??

I’ve implemented the fix described above, and it works! (WordPress 4.4+)

Hopefully Jeremy can merge my changes soon. In the meantime, you can just replace wp-photo-sphere.php with this version.

    Hi Sean,

Thank you for your fix, I’ll merge it this week (probably tomorrow).
Pretty weird that the bug was caused by a memory problem, as Photo Sphere Viewer retrieves the maximal size allowed by WebGL on the current device to resize the panorama if needed…
