• I de-activated TinyMCE to check for plugin incompatibility issues – now it refuses to reactivate. I’ve even deleted it and re-installed it, three times. It simply will not give me back the enhanced text editor. Everything looks normal in the settings, but it won’t show up in use. Any ideas? I’m v4.1.1, and v4.0 of WP

By ‘won’t activate” you mean it shows error when you try to activate it again, or it doesn’t add any buttons to the editor?

If the second, try saving the plugin’s settings from Settings => TinyMCE Advanced again.

Doesn’t add any buttons – I got the default WP text editor panel.

I was able to fix the issue, but I had to delete TinyMCE completely, deactivate all of my plugins, reinstall TinyMCE, and reactivate all of my plugins one at a time. There were no incompatibility issues once I did that, and it seems to work as it did now – but deactivating it seemed to send it into a total tailspin.

I had tried saving the settings, by the way, too, as you suggested, but it just locked up.

It is operating correctly now, except that it will not allow a or a <p>, it’s stripping them out, even though I have that box checked to NOT strip them out. Any ideas on how to force those? I also can’t seem to get a non-breaking space through, those are stripped as well.

    Thanks!

Hmmmm, sounds like the options are not being saved or loaded properly. The only reason I could think of is if the admin is being cached on the server side. Caching is good for the site/front-end but not for the admin.

To check if the options are being loaded properly: go to the Edit Post screen, look at the HTML source, then search (Crtl + F) for wpautop:false. If you’ve checked the box to “Stop removing P and BR…” and you don’t see that, maybe contact your hosting company’s support.
