    Short version:
I edited the Redirect URI for one of my links. Updated the change so it would take effect. Simple Url shows me it has been configured to use the new URI. It continues to redirect to the old URI. I tried going to Settings > Permalinks and saving changes. It had no effect. Another edited URI, which I edited at the same time and in the same way, does redirect to it’s new URI.

    Long version:
I have a simple url configured to point to a text file on the server. I have a new version of that file in a different sub-directory. I reconfigured simple url to point to the new file in the new sub-directory. When I examine the list of simple urls, it shows the correct location of the new file. When I edit the simple url, it shows the correct location of the new file. When I click “update” in the edit window (so that I get the “View Url” link) and then click “View Url”, I’m redirected to the old file in the old location. Likewise if I click the link on the web page where I inserted the simple url, I’m redirected to the old file in the old location.

I’ve been through this exact procedure for 2 simple url links. Everything about both these links is nearly identical. They just have slightly different names and point to different files but the files are nearly identical, are in the same sub-directory and are the same type. One of these simple urls, correctly directs me to the new file, the other continues to send me to it’s old location and old file despite the fact that everything I can examine tells me it is configured to point to the new file in the new location.

How is this even possible and where can I look to see where simple url is getting the old path to the old file? I’ve seen that some people are able to fix problems by Settings > Permalinks and saving changes. I’ve done that. It didn’t help.

How can simple url show me it is configured to redirect to the correct file and still redirect me to the old file?

    Hope you can help.

p.s. I’m using the latest version of WordPress and Simple Url.

  • Hi there!

Can you make sure all caching is purged, any network or browser caching, and then test. Could you also provide a link to your site so we can take a closer look?

I had previously refreshed the page with an uncached version by pressing Ctrl-F5 within my browser, but that didn’t help. A quick search showed me how to clear my computer cache and that solved the problem. I didn’t expect that to work because I would have expected both links to fail or succeed together, but there’s no arguing with success. Clearing my computer cache fixed the problem. Pressing Ctrl-Shift-Del on my PC brought up the window that enabled me to clear my computer cache.

Thanks for your help. I’m glad to discover the problem had nothing to do with your plugin.
