And yes I have Cookies enabled. They work fine everywhere else. However if I log in and then try to comment, it immediately tells me I must log in to comment.
I can stay in the Admin without any problem though, it is just when I go to view the normal page that the problem occures.
I could turn off the option and allow anyone to post, and I did, until I found that no one anywhere else was having this problem.

There is the site. Perhaps any others out there using FireFox will have the problem? I know it works fine for me using IE, and I know my friend has no problem while using FireFox and another using AOL.
I have the login on the index. Perhaps this is part of the problem?
I am very new to PHP, however I’m pretty good at try experimenting and nothing I could come up with could fix it. And yes, I searched the forum thoroughly.
I can get by for now, since I the admin works and since the login is on the index I can login on the comment page and then post a comment.
    But it is really annoying.

  • I had this problem once. It turned out that I actualy had a bad cookie. Once I cleaned out all my cookies for my site, logged back in, things worked fine again. Go figure. I never did figure out just what it was.

Yep, corrupted cookies are often to blame for this.

I cleared my cookies already. Forgot to mention I tried that.
Now when I go to my page, it has me already logged in and from there on out I have the same problem – logged out in any of the index pages.
    Thats just messed up…

Ummmm, if you “cleaned your cookies” and visit the page, and it has you logged in, then the cookies weren’t cleaned. Just to avoid confusion, clearing your cache does NOT clean out the cookies. That has to be done separately.

I didn’t see a problem with being logged out. I am guessing you fixed this?

TG – I have logged in since I cleared my cookies.
The first time I went there after clearing my cookies it didn’t have me logged in, no. And I am never already logged in when I get there using FF.
I meant to say that when I use IE it has me already logged in. Are IE and FF cookies separate? Didn’t think they were, maybe thats the problem.
Thats why I said I had already done it and “Now when I go to my page” implying a continuing problem.
I can try to go clear the cookies manually, perhaps the FF option of “clear cookies” isn’t doing its job well? It threw off my other passwords so I know it did something.

To Anderson – Like I said, it works fine for everyone else that I’ve heard from. Thanks for testing it out too. One more test is always good.
So it looks like the problem is just mine.
Why does it keep me logged in when I use the Admin though?
Thats the part that doesn’t make sense.
If it is cookies overall – shouldn’t anything that needs me to be logged in not work, including the admin?
Instead, it is specific to the index, which is why I wanted to ask all of you.
If it was just a browser problem, its not your problem, I should bother you, but as I said, the admin stays logged in.

YEs, Fx and IE cookies are seeparate… jsut as are their histories, cache and bookmarks. If you clear in one, but then use the other, that defeats the purpose. And trust, me, Fx clears cookies just fine. It just doesn’t clear IE cookies.

    I’ll try clearing both.
However, what is the cause of the IE staying logged in?
I think I saw some support questions on te subject of logins not expiring? I guess I should go check that instead of asking here…

EDIT – I cleared both…no change. Except that I wasn’t logged in the first time in IE of course…

Could it be a problem with the Login I added to the page? If its not accepting the cookies or whatever it could be making it switch me back to logged off?
I got the code from somewhere else and everyone said it worked great for them.
I will try reseting that part I guess.

Ok I removed the login on the screen and logged in using the wp-login.php
    It worked fine.
So then I put the login for the index back on.

    And now it works fine…
    I have no clue why.
Not sure I really want to know as long as it works at this point. lol
I don’t know if you want this thread gone then or what…it doesn’t seem anyone has ever quite had this problem.

Possible Idea…I had never logged out from the normal wp-login, so it had me always logged in, but then when the login on the index wented to check it clashed with the other login?
    Again…no clue. I’m such a noob.

I’m having this issue as well with FireFox. Cleared cookies & cache. Internet Explorer works great, putting an (Edit This) link next to each post and keeping me logged in when I’m going through adding comments.

Interestingly when I go to https://openbod.com/writing/colorfulcards/ directly from the main page (https://openbod.com) then FireFox still keeps me logged in. However, if I go to any other page I am logged off. Any ideas of other things to try or something I could post to help with a solution?
