After upgrading to Woo Commerce (from 7.8) 7.90, the following problem occurred. I can create attributes, but the checkbox button to make it a variation product can not be clicked.

Problem: It is not possible to create variations anymore.

Workaround: Downgrade to 7.80 and it works again.

    Versions and plugins:
    WordPress 6.2.2
Theme used is: Astra Version 4.1.6 | Brainstorm Force
plugin used: Variation Swatches for WooCommerce Products version 1.2.1 | HasThemes (plugin is not the cause of the issue)

  • I also have this issue but it also extends to creating variations on new items. Where you do not wish an attribute to be a variation, the “Used For Variations” Check box already is checked an you are unable to “Un-Check” it

OKAY so following my other post.

I ran through the plugin and theme disabling/enabling tests and found the issue to be my theme.

As my theme is set up for woocommerce, I have to original theme that I could feasibly resort too.

I am now seeking assistance from the theme creators

    ***EDIT***

Trawling through issues on the Theme forum, I found a little gem.

When I enabled my theme having disabling it for fault finding, my original issue re-appeared (unable to activate variations via check box in woocommerce attributes.

HOWEVER… When I used a different (Edge instead of Chrome) browser to do the exact same thing for testing, the issue was not there.

A quick browser cache clean and issue no longer there.

Able to enable and disable variations through attributes.

I hope this helps someone that has been pulling out their hair trying to get their website functional again.

    Hi @joeri2023 ,

    Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that the checkbox to make an attribute a variation is not working as expected on your end when using the latest version of WooCommerce [7.9.0], is this correct?

Please can you clarify if this is the checkbox which you are referring to:

If so, this is not something I am able to replicate on my test site, as the checkbox is working a expected.

What exactly happens when trying to check this box? Are there any error messages being displayed? Is the checkbox completely greyed out? Or can you check the box but saving the changes revert back to unchecked?

A screenshot of what you are seeing on your end may be helpful. If you do not already have a screenshot tool installed,?Snipboard.io?can be used for easily sharing screenshots.

Please follow the instructions on that page, then paste the URL in this thread.

    Additionally, please share the following:

    • Console errors: Please share any errors you may identify when inspecting the console on the page experiencing the issue.

Hi, it is just not clickable. The source of the problem lies in the Astra theme :(.

    Hi @joeri2023 ,

    Thanks for the update.

To clarify, the issue is resolved when the Astra theme is no longer active?

If so, I’d suggest reaching out to the themes support for further help with this, as they may have a fix or workaround. You can contact them directly, here:

On the other hand, if I misinterpret your response in any way, please let us know. We are happy to assist further.

    Cheers!
