I need some really simply explained help.

I can’t seem to get my shipping classes working. I have flat rate selected, and then various shipping classes for individual costs. But in my actual shop its only showing the flat rate, and not picking up the classes I have attached to the product. Im pretty sure I have set something up fundamentally wrong but I cant work it. Thanks
