    Hi,
I use “Filter by Attribute” widget (products filter in the template for Woo product archive)

How to make the filter only show the attributes that the products in that category have?
For example if i sell beer and food that in the beer category shows only brands for beer, not food brands.

Is this a bug after the filter update?

  • Hey there, @re1lazz! Thanks for contacting us. I’m happy to help you.

Do you mind sharing your website’s URL so we can check how you set up the widget?

Are you adding the filter on the sidebar or directly on some pages?

Please note that the Filter By Attribute Widget only adds one attribute per widget. If you add it on the sidebar, it will show the option to filter with that attribute on all pages (or all shop pages).

You can find more about this in this guide.

If you are looking for more advanced filter options, you might want to check the plugin Product Filters for WooCommerce.

    I hope this was clarifying.

    Have a wonderful day!

@carolm29 thank you for your answer.

I created a test project to show you the problem.
    https://shop.inspect.lt/product-category/drink/
When entering the category “Drink” there are 2 products, on the right side Sidebar (Widgets-> Filter by Attribute) all filters are displayed, although the products of the category “Drink” have neither “Size” nor “Color” attributes.

Before the Woo filter widgets update, this problem did not exist. On the category page, only those attribute filters that the products had were displayed.

    Hi @re1lazz

The behavior you’re experiencing isn’t a bug, but rather the standard functionality of the widget. By default, the “Filter by Attribute” widget shows all attributes, regardless of the product category.

However, you might consider using an advanced filter plugin like WooCommerce Product Filter that offers more flexibility and customization. It allows you to create tailored filters for each product category. This way, your customers will only see relevant attributes when they’re browsing a specific category.

I hope this provides some clarity. Please let us know if you have any other questions!
