WooCommerce 2.3.4 – cross-sells in cart are missing

Ensure your products are configured correctly, cross sells are in stock, and not already in the cart.

everything’s installed and configured correctly. there are no cross-sells shown, no matter which product I choose or which product is in cart already.
In the meantime I re-installed the theme and woocommerce, nothing changed.
