    Hi Woo team:)

Since the 3.4 update (I also have the latest version of wordpress) I noticed that the download counter for customers is not counting down which results in that customers have infinite access to my digital products.

Also the nice download logging feature is not working anymore..

    How to fix this?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Thanks, Philip

    Hi there,

I’ve just tested things on my local testing installation but couldn’t replicate the same thing on my side.

With this in mind, could you elaborate a bit more on how you have that product configured (Screenshots would be good)? Also, what does you downloadable product settings look like under WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Downloadable Products? Could customers perhaps access that URL directly without logging a download?

Also the nice download logging feature is not working anymore..

I don’t fully understand this, what download logging feature are you referring to? Is this on the front end?

    Thanks!

    Hi RK,
    Thanks for the prompt reply.

And interesting to hear you don’t have this problem. Everything worked for me too in WC 3.3.5.
Customers receive an email from which they can download the files. If they download from there(and not the account download page) it will result in a log of an anonymous person.
Now in wc 3.4 nothing is being logged..

With the logging feature I mean the woocommerce core download logging feature featured in WC 3.3. This doesn’t work anymore. (Reports >>> customer downloads).

The settings for downloadable settings are: forced downloads, Downloads require NO login, Grant access to downloadable products after payment). I don’t see how this is related?

Also I didn’t change any of the digital products after the update to wc 3.4. Are there settings that I should be aware of on product level?

    Thanks for your help.
    Looking forward to your reply.

    Hi @philip,

Thanks for the reply! Now, it’s 3.4.1 I am testing on which included a fix for downloadable products using external URLs.

    See: https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/pull/20205

That said, I tested downloadable products from the My Account page and saw the one of three permitted downloads was accounted for(#). In turn, the WooCommerce > Reports > Customer Downloads page showed the downloaded file(#).

Are there settings that I should be aware of on product level?

Yes, the limit and expiration for the downloadable files are set within the product, but nothing more.

Can you test this again with a default theme and all other plugins deactivated except WooCommerce 3.4.1?

    Hi @johndcoy,

    Thanks for the reply.
I already updated to 3.4.1 but that didnt solve anything for me.

I checked the link you sedn me but I don’t use external links. All my files are being stored on my own server where I also installed wordpress and WC on.

I just checked my download log (WooCommerce > Reports > Customer Downloads) and in the mean time one download has been logged. This one log concerns the only file which I see that is in the format .rar. All my other files are in the format pdf. Note that also in this customers order I can see that he downloaded the file 1 time (working as expected). So can it have to do something with different file types?

    Thanks @philip8829,

All file types are treated equally in this case. I tested this with a PDF and a RAR file anyway and received the same result. There is something likely caused with another plugin or the active theme for the site in question.

You may want to consider switching back to a default theme like Twenty Seventeen or Storefront and disabling all plugins except for WooCommerce to see if this resolves the issue.

    Hi John,

I will check my other plugins and theme indeed and let you know if I find something.

    Thanks for thinking along!

    Hi there,

Had you found a moment to try this with just WooCommerce and a theme like Twenty Seventeen or Storefront active?

    Hi Ryan,

Yes and no, I tested a lot and it seems that it has to do with the pdf watermark plugin of woocommerce. it doesn’t work under wc 3.4.2 and they are working on a solution for it in the pdf watermark plugin.

With their latest update 1.1.5 they solved the broken download link problem. But the issue regarding the “remaining downloads” counter remains.

@philip8829 I see that you have ticket 1195128 open for this, and since it’s a problem with PDF Watermark, I am going to set this thread resolved. All follow up will be in the ticket.
