WooCommerce 6.6.0 does not work with PHP version 8.0!

    Hello,

    I encountered an error on two different sites after updating to version 6.6.0 , and it’s solved after changing the PHP version to 7.3 and 7.4!

    I’ve tested this on my local install with the following environment and the site is working fine without errors.

    – PHP version: 8.0.0
    – WordPress version: 6.0
    – WooCommerce version: 6.6.0

    Note that I have not installed other plugins other than WooCommerce and I’m running the site on a default theme (Storefront).

    In order for us to get a better understanding of your site setup, could you please share a copy of your website’s System Status Report?

    You can get it by navigating to the WooCommerce > Status section of your site. Once there, click on the Get system report button and then copy it by clicking on the Copy for support button. Then paste it here in your response.

    Thanks for sharing the System Status Report. Nothing stands out specifically as a discrepancy there.

    Even I am getting no errors with PHP version is 8.0 on my test site which is running the latest versions of WordPress, WooCommerce and our free Storefront theme as the only enabled software, and has no custom code added.

    This indicates that the compatibility issue with PHP 8.0 is not from WooCommerce but from some other tool (plugin/theme) present on your site.

    We recommend creating a duplicate/staging site and running a conflict test to detect the tool that is causing the incompatibility problem. Here’s the conflict test guide for reference: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/

    * Many hosting providers offer site staging facilities, but if you don’t have such a feature, you can create one with the WP Staging plugin.

    Hi @margaretwporg

    Please try again the test with changing the site language to “Deutsch (Schweiz)”.

    I changed the theme and deactivated all other plugins, the error persisted; But when I changed the language of the site to English, the site returned to work well!

    It seems to have something to do with the language files according to this thread where another user came across the same fatal error.

    Can you make sure all your translations are up to date? You could also reupload the WooCommerce language file as this solution worked for the user on the above-mentioned thread.

    same problem here, had a fatal error with woocommerce, i made a complete new install and still getting an error. as soon i install woocommerce i am getting an error

    Fatal error when using Deutsch(Schweiz) changing language to English everything worksfine
