We keep getting an error that causes our site to give a HTTP ERROR 500 and become un accessible until we deactivate the WooCommerce plugin.

We were running php 7.4, and I have upgraded this to 8.0 which has enabled us to get things back but I am not convinced it will have solved the problem?

The error seems to be linked to woo-commerce and we get the following in our error log:

Thanks for reaching out and for providing your system status report!

We keep getting an error that causes our site to give a HTTP ERROR 500 and become un accessible until we deactivate the WooCommerce plugin.

This usually happens when a theme or plugin is conflicting with the WooCommerce plugin. Could you please run a conflict test as described here and let us know the results?

Using a staging site would be a good idea. If your host doesn’t offer that option, we recommend WP Staging for quickly spinning up a new test site.

Thanks for your reply.

The problem I have is that the issue is fine now and I can’t replicate it by doing anything, it just seems to keep happening every few days.

Today I managed to get things back by deactivating all plugins and upgrading php to version 8. Upon reactivating all plugins the problem has gone away but I am not convinced it is fixed?

I can’t run a conflict test therefore as it is all fine at the moment.

Any suggestions or do I wait to see what happens, perhaps hoping the php upgrade has fixed the problem?

Thanks for providing an update!

I would recommend waiting to see if the issue reoccurs, as the php update may just as well have resolved the issue.

It may have also been a case of an outdated plugin causing a conflict, which may have updated.

Please let me know if the issue reoccurs, and further troubleshooting can then be done.

Occasionally, such issue gets fixed by upgrading the PHP version.

I have also seen similar error happening due to cron PHP version mismatch. In that case, you can force the cron jobs to use the latest PHP version. Here is an article that I would suggest: Force Cron Jobs to Use a PHP Version
