Woocommerce causes critical error when trying to edit page or post

    I am currently unable to edit pages or posts while I have woocommerce activated.

    After doing some testing on a staging copy of my site, I can confirm this is not due to conflicts with any other plugins.

    Deactivating woocommerce fixes the problem.

    Deactivating all other plugins and only activating woocommerce triggers the problem.

    Hello @siwhyatt,

    I am currently unable to edit pages or posts while I have woocommerce activated.

    Just to make sure I understand this, you’re not able to edit/add any new pages or posts when WooCommerce is enabled.

    I tried installing a fresh version of WooCommerce on a new test site and wasn’t able to replicate the problem.

    Just because you were able to edit the posts when removing WooComemrce doesn’t necessarily the problem was with WooCommerce, perhaps another plugin or theme was conflicting with woocommerce.

    I understand you disabled all plugins, but did that include even page builders?

    Also, please try switching to the Storefront theme to see if the problem is with your theme.

    Let us know your findings.

    Thanks for your reply.

    It appears to be some woocommerce functions that I added via the theme file editor that are causing the issue.

    To clarify, the website works fine, customers can place orders, and the functions work as intended.

    I can also add new posts and pages.

    The only issue is when I try to edit an existing page or post.

    I appreciate that it is probably out of the scope of this forum to ask for advice on functions, but I thought perhaps you could advise me whether there is an error in the code I have written, or if there is some other issue going on which is out of my control? I’m not sure why, even if my code is suboptimal, it should cause a WordPress critical error when trying to edit a page or post, even when that page or post has nothing to do with woocommerce?

    The code which causes the problem is the following:

    Hey @siwhyatt!

    It won’t be possible for us to assist you with your custom code. It is hard to tell what exactly is breaking without checking the input and output values of your functions and hooks and no access to the error log.

    But, following is how you can troubleshoot your code:
    1. Check the hooks documentation to ensure you’re using those correctly, like the parameters and the data types.
    2. Then, ensure that your custom functions are receiving the values in the expected format.

    Most probably, you’ll find the problem in these two steps; but if you don’t, check the data/values that your hooks are outputting to ensure these are in the expected format. This should tell you what is wrong with the output.

    Note: You must check the actual errors that are thrown from the PHP Error logs. Knowing the errors will help you find and fix these problems.

    I have the same problem in the past week and cannot edit posts and pages.

    I’m not a developer so I haven’t done coding on the website.

    I am using the free Neve theme.

    After reading this recent topic, I tried editing a page after deactivating Woocommerce and it worked.

    There has to be a recent Woocommerce change which is causing this issue.

    @wearabletattoo it could also be another plugin that works with WooCommerce that might not trigger when WC is deactivated.

    To be sure it would be worthwhile deactivating all the other plugins except WC then see if you still get the error?

    I did that and discovered that two plugins are causing this same error.
    I cannot edit pages while Dsers Dropshipping Solution: Find Products On Aliexpress for Woocommerce and/or WebToffee PayPal Express Checkout Payment Gatewy for Woocommerce (Free) active.
    I’ve reported the issue to the relevant plugins developers.

    I would like to make a correction of the feedback I posted to this forum earlier.
    After further tests in all possible areas of the store and admin page functionality, I found out that infact Dsers Dropshipping Solution: Find Products On Aliexpress for Woocommerce and/or WebToffee PayPal Express Checkout Payment Gateway for Woocommerce (Free) aren’t causing the error. The below plugin interfered with them.

    The problem is with WooCommerce Multilingual & Multicurrency.

    It prevents from pages being edited and store customization. Also, the currency icons are incorrect on automated emails.
