WooCommerce Crashing Site

    The index.php file in my WordPress keeps generating processes and crashing my site. My host has tried deactivating plugins but my issue persists. It seems to be related to WooCommerce but I’ve got no other clues beyond that.

    Additionally, this only seems to be affecting the admin side of the site. If I keep refreshing the site after I get the error (either 508 or 500) it seems to clear the CPU queue enough for me to use the backend, but I have to continually do this in order to move around the admin site.

    I have screenshots of the error logs if helpful.

    For better assistance, please share your WooCommerce error logs and System Status on this thread so we can take a look at your configuration and check the issue further:

    System Status: You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

    Error Log: Share a copy of any fatal error log found under WooCommerce > System Status > Logs (if available).

    Hi @ahdesigns,

    Thank you for sharing your system status and error logs.

    The Google Drive link requires authorization and you may want to change the privacy setting to public so we can have a look at the server error logs.

    One thing I’d recommend here is to install the Query Monitor plugin – it will allow you to monitor what is happening within WordPress, and if there are any plugins causing this slowdown. Can you let us know the results you find from that?

    Also, could you please perform a conflict test by following the steps below?

    • Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
    • Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    • Check if you can browse the dashboard with no slowdown

    If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated.

    To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your theme first and check again. Then, your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict.

    I did all of the things you suggested above and am still experiencing the same issues on my site. The only thing that seems to help at all is deactivating the woocommerce plugin.

    Just to confirm, when you disabled ALL extensions except WooCommerce and enabled the StoreFront Theme, did the site crash still? It will be helpful if you can share a current System Status report.

    If it isn’t thoroughly checked yet, you are welcome to test it out on a staging site using a plugin like WP Staging. Here’s the conflict test guide – https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/.

    Are there any WooCommerce Error Logs currently after removing the w3-total-cache plugin?

    Hi @margaretwporg,

    I disabled all extensions other than WooCommerce and changed to the storefront theme. None of that solved the issues on the size.

    There are no additional error logs.

    Hi @ahdesigns – I’m sorry we keep harping on this, but it’s quite difficult when it’s something we’re unable to duplicate on our end, making testing the issue fairly difficult.

    Can you go ahead and create a staging site as Margaret suggested above? Once that’s created, deactivate everything but WooCommerce, install and enable the Storefront theme, and send us a copy of the staging site’s system status report showing this has been done.

    I’m hoping this will allow us to actually look at the site and see a clear and default version of what’s happening here.

    We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m marking this thread as resolved – we’ll be here if and/or when you are ready to continue.

    Sorry to hear that.

    If you’ve already disabled all extensions other than WooCommerce and changed to the Storefront theme then a staging site is no longer needed. You’ve already taken the risks.

    Can you please share a system status report of the current state (with only Storefront theme and WooCommerce enabled) so we can closely check if the issue is related to WooCommerce or not?

    We haven’t heard back from you in a while.

    Hopefully, you were able to find a way forward with the issue.
