As we all know, WooCommerce (like WordPress) store all information about products and orders as a separate meta-fields – this is a big problem for performance.

Is there any information about when WooCommerce start using custom separate tables for products and orders?

I found the plugin Custom Products Table Feature Plugin created by WooCommerce team, but it still in developing and doesn’t solve a problem with storing data in separate meta-fields.

  • Hi @kleindberg,

That’s a great question. Moving away from using the posts and postmeta tables for products is a pretty big undertaking especially since we don’t want to cause problems for businesses and other developers.

They are continuing to look at options for new tables for products, but at this time there’s nothing to release. When they’re confident they have a solution that is performant and works well, they’ll definitely let everyone know.

    Cheers
