Woocommerce Image squaring without crop

  • Hi,

    I’m using WP and woocommerce for my online store and want our images to appear as square, but uncropped. The only options i can find in the appearance settings are a 1:1 crop, custom aspect crop or uncropped.

    What I’m looking for is a way to put the full uncropped images in square frames or canvases so that the products are all square and line up nicely, but none of the images get cut off. So whichever dimension is larger defines the size of the image, and it’s otherwise just centered within the space of the other dimension. (not stretched either)

    I hope this makes sense.

    If anyone has any thoughts on how to do this they would be much appreciated.

  • The only way to do this is to have a container element wrapping the images, set that to a defined size, and have the images set to display to full width or height. It’s a bit of trickery with CSS and you will probably need to modify the templates to do it like that.
