• Trying to import products and map to woo-commerce columns but it keeps skipping products saying that that product ID already exists. I have permanently deleted all products (from the bin as well) but I keep getting the same message.
I am testing various ways of organising the CSV file form eBay so need to import multiple times

  • Hi there,

If this is the case, you’ll want to remove the Product ID column of your CSV document. The site will assign each product an ID upon import.

You should only include the Product ID if you’re trying to update a product that already exists on that site, say, for example, you want to change the price or the product description. The ID allows the system to realise that this is an existing product and then update it accordingly instead of creating a brand new product.

I hope that clears up some of your confusion.

    Cheers.

Hi there – many thanks for your reply. I get that now. I wanted to use the eBay item number as my store product number as I have nearly 5,000 items on eBay that I need to import to Woo. I will need to revise them when they get into Woo so I need a way of finding them quickly. I don’t think I can use the SKU either, is that right?
    Thanks again and best wishes,
    Jerry
