    I use GoDaddy managed WordPress 6.7.2. My PHP version is 8.2. I’m using Woocommerce 9.7.0. My theme is Ollie (block theme) 1.3.3.

    My products have two variations, and the buyer needs to choose one before adding to cart: studio license, or single license. The text on the dropdown menu where an option must be chosen is rendering almost invisibly. Site visitors will not be able to tell that it’s a dropdown menu.

    Similarly, there are alert boxes on the checkout page with text that is almost invisible.

    I’ve read all the documentation I can find for Woocommerce and WordPress and Ollie that might be relevant. I’ve tried everything I can and I don’t know how to fix this.

    Short screen recording showing the issue and the how I’ve tried to fix it so far:

    I am new to Woocommerce and an “intermediate novice” at Gutenberg.

    Thank you for any help!

  • Hey @jamtpg23,

    I think WooCommerce by default uses black/white font colors, but you can always change this by adding CSS customizations.

    What I can suggest is, instead of using the default WP editor to create the product/order page, try to use a theme that known to be 100% compatible with WooCommerce.

    Try to use Astra theme and explore it. It is easier to create products with these themes, not worrying about the font colors/ invisible texts.

    Kinds regards,

    @adminalje,

    I’m so grateful for your reply.

    I did try some other themes, including Astra, with mixed results. (I actually tried Astra in the very beginning of building my site, but decided against it for other reasons. I tried it again today after your suggestion.) In some of the themes, the invisible text was visible, but others not.

    However, I’m really really reluctant to switch themes because I have already built so much of the site already and it is functioning for my current students. Woocommerce is just one new component of the already existing site.

    I would be grateful if you would elaborate on the CSS suggestion. I’m not sure exactly how to do that.

    Also, I will reach out to the Ollie theme developer. Thank you!

    @adminalje,

    Checking back in after trying several more themes. A pattern seems to be emerging:

    If I use a classic theme, the text seems to be visible (original problem solved).

    If I use a block theme (Gutenberg/full-site editing), the problem persists.

    This may not be 100% the case with all classic or block themes, but I’ve tried quite a few and got to the point that I could predict whether the invisible text issue would occur or not with decent accuracy, based on this.

    I do need to use a block theme for my site, for various other reasons. As I’ve stated, I’ve already built the majority of my site with Ollie and there are several other features of the site that rely on it.

    If the problem is this consistently tied to block themes, is it something Woocommerce would/should address so that the plugin cooperates with block themes more?

    I would appreciate any help! Thank you again.

    Last reply for now:

    I stuck with the Ollie theme, and used the SiteOrigin CSS plugin to change the CSS for the specific dropdown. It is now visible so the problem is hopefully solved for now.

    Hi @jamtpg23 ,

    I’m happy to hear that adding the custom CSS resolved the invisible text issue for you!

    I’ll mark this as resolved for now. If you need any further help with WooCommerce core or anything else, don’t hesitate to create a new topic. I’m here to assist you!

    Cheers!
