woocommerce logins will not authenticate

  • With Hide My WP Ghost installed customers can no longer log into their accounts.

    “ERROR: An error was encountered while trying to authenticate. Please try again.”

    Wordpress + all plugins and themes are up-to-date as of 06/25/22

    Hi Jason,

    Did you activate the Brute Force for Woocommerce too?

    If you get this message it means that the Hide My WP > Brute Force protection is not activated for the Woocommerce or the theme is not letting HMWP Ghost to load on the Woocommerce login page.

    Try using Google reCaptcha from Hide My WP > Brute Force for better security on the login form.

    Yes it has been on using Google reCaptcha V2, I’ve also tried using the math captcha and Google v3 all have given me the same result.

    Thank you for looking into this.

    -Update: Even with Brute Force protection turned off, I get this error.

    When I disable HideMyWP the problem resolves.

    Then it seems to conflict with another installed plugin. You can test only Hide My WP Ghost plugin and deactivate the other plugins to see if it works.

    If it still doesn’t work, you will need to deactivate the Brute Force and contact us on https://hidemywpghost.com/contact/ for more support.

    Right now, Bruteforce is off. I already have this protection from Sucuri and Wordfence.

    Judging from your questioning, it seems that the WooCommerce login should only be affected if I have the pro version of HideMyWP. As that is what is reflected in the plugin. Which leads me to believe one of two things:

    Either A: the HideMyWP is inadvertently breaking the WooCommerce login page.

    Or B: HideMyWP is intentionally breaking the WooCommerce login page; which in effect would make HideMyWP a form of ransomware as it holds customers out of the site until the pro version is bought to unlock customer access again.

    Hi,

    We checked the error message and it seems that it’s an error on login hook.

    If you check the error log you should see the file and the line where the error is triggered.
    This way we can identify the place where the error was generated.

    It’s probably a compatibility issue as we don’t have the Wocoommerce Brute Force support for the free version of Hide My WP plugin.
