• Hi, this is a very nice plugin.

Recently I upgraded this plugin from Version 2.7.9.1 to 2.8, the email content with non-english character encoded in wrong format. If I fallback to 2.7.9.1, the email content with non-english character is displayed in correct encode format.

    The plugin for i18n :
    WPML Multilingual CMS Version 4.0.2
    WooCommerce Multilingual Version 4.2.10
    WooCommerce Version 3.3.5

  • Hello, I’ve got a few questions to identify the problem:
Does this problem in all emails or just in WooCommerce mails?
Did you also upgrade the WP HTML Mail for WooCommerce to 2.8?
Do you use the MailBuilder to customize the email content or do you just use the styling options?

    Hello,

Does this problem in all emails or just in WooCommerce mails?

I just checked the registration email generated from Profile Builder Plugin was in correct encode format.

Did you also upgrade the WP HTML Mail for WooCommerce to 2.8?

I have tried to upgrade the WP HTML Mail to 2.8.

Do you use the MailBuilder to customize the email content or do you just use the styling options?

    No

Following is the scenario to reproduce the issue.

    1) I cloned a clean site with the WP HTML Mail Version 2.7.9.1 and with WPML Multilingual CMS Version 4.0.2 activated. The content of the email generated by WooCommerce is in correct encode format for non-English character.

    2) installed and activated the following plugins. I tried to add a product to the cart and checkout for it. The content of the generated email is still in correct encode format.
    WooCommerce Multilingual Version 4.2.10
    WPML Media Version 2.3.2
    WPML String Translation Version 2.8.2

    3) I tried to modify the Email Template setting on Woocommerce->Setting->Emails->Processing Order, changed the Email heading to “Thank for your support” and Email Type set to “Plan Text”

    4) I created a String Translation on WPML->String Translation and added the new translation for another language “Thank you for your support” in Traditional Chinese.

    5) Created a new order and the content of the email displayed in wrong encode format afterward.

Below is the content of the email generated by WooCommerce (Processing Order Email):

    = è??è???? ??? =

    ???????·2????????°??¨???è¨????è??????-£??¨è???????-?????¥?????ˉ??¨???è¨????????′°?????¨???è??

    =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

    ?????°è2¨?????¥???é???????????

    è¨?????·¨è??:3371

Is there a way to get a copy of your site for my test lab? Maybe you can anonymize the database with this plugin https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-migrate-db-anonymization/ to not hand out any customer data?
I can’t set up a Chinese translation myself.
If this is a possible way for debugging for you please send me an email to the email on this page: https://etzelstorfer.com/en/contact/
I’m going to send you some instructions.

We have encountered the same issue with corrupted content for Chinese characters after the upgrade to 28. Is the issue resolved?

Further information, we do not use WooCommerce. We use Caldera Forms. The issue is intermittent but occurs quite frequent.

We currently hav a few users with this issue and testing several ways to resolve it. I’m still waiting for feedback for some changes.
You can try this beta in the meantime: https://drive.google.com/a/etzelstorfer.com/file/d/1IS0ycy-PHJhbWUiY7eF09SrRBQ3qfPVA/view?usp=sharing
Please disable and delete WP HTML Mail and then install the update. Your settings are stored in the database so you wont loose anything when you remove the plugin.
    best regards, Hannes

    Thanks, Hannes.

We will test the beta and report back if it fixes the issue.

    Thanks.

@wxyx how does the beta work for you?

Hi Hannes, I need a bit more time to test the beta. We have roll-backed to 2.7.9.1 in production since we encountered the issue earlier. I have tested the 2.8 in out test environment but, so far, I could not reproduce the issue.

    I will update you late.

    Thanks.
