• Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing very slow order searches in the WooCommerce backend. It often results in request timeouts, even though the server has sufficient resources. Searching for an order can take anywhere from 5 to 20 seconds.

I’ve already optimized the database, enabled caching, and removed unnecessary plugins, but the issue persists.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to improve search performance?

    Thanks in advance!

    Best regards,
    Coen

    Hi there!

Thanks for reaching out! Slow order searches in WooCommerce can have multiple causes. To better understand the issue, could you share:

    • Approximately how many orders are in your store?
    • Which payment gateways or order-related plugins you are using?
    • If you notice slow performance only when searching for orders or in other areas of the admin dashboard as well?

In the meantime, I’d like to understand your site properly. Please share with us the necessary information below for us to investigate the issue further:

    • System Status Report?which you can find via WooCommerce > Status
    • Fatal error logs?(if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

Please use https://pastebin.com/ or https://gist.github.com/ and share a link to that paste in reply here. Once we have more information, we’ll be able to assist you further.

    Hello turkijefm,

    Thank you for your reply.

I understand your site has around 57,000 orders and uses the “pay-payments-for-woocommerce” plugin for payments.

May I ask when did you first notice this slow performance?

To investigate the issue further, I need to review your System Status Report. Please generate the report and paste it into Pastebin, then share the link here. We do not have a private channel for communication. If you prefer to redact details like the site URL and database tables, use the Copy for GitHub button.

Once I have more information, I will be in a better position to assist you further.

    Hi @turkijefm ,

Thanks for sharing the system status report! I noticed that HPOS is not enabled on your site.

Could you try enabling HPOS and see if it improves the search speed? You can follow this guide for more details: https://woocommerce.com/document/high-performance-order-storage/

Let us know how it goes!

    Hi there!

The following error indicates that there is a plugin or code on your site conflicting with the HPOS features.

Here is an article to guide you on how to find the plugin causing this issue:
How to Fix WordPress Critical Error.

Alternatively, I would suggest running a conflict test by deactivating all plugins except WooCommerce and checking if you still encounter the same error when activating that setting.

For more details on how to run a conflict test, you can refer to this article:
    How to Test for Conflicts.

Let me know how that goes!
