• Resolved boflowers

    Hello,

I have an issue with woocommerce overwriting the content of my shop page. I created my own shoppage with the divi builder and the translations and videos etc worked fine. Then I put that created page as my shop page in the woocommerce settings. It now added the sidebar and product categories to the page I created. The translation does not even show my own content. I already deleted the page as the default shop page but that does not resolve the issue. The page keeps the modifications from woo commerce.

    anyone have similar experiences?

Shop page is not a real ‘page’. The page is just a placeholder. It’s actually a custom post type archive.

Ok but so how can I reverse the modification of the own page I created? Is there a way to delete the archive post?

A archive cannot be deleted. It’s like an an endpoint created by WordPress – similar to a category archive.

What is the issue on the archive?

The issue is that I set a pre-existing page as the “shop” archive page in the woocommerce settings. By doing that the existing content on that page was overwritten and the page i showed in the screenshots was created. I deleted the option in the settings but the changes are not reversed.

Overwritten in the sense that the layout with the sidebar and the categories on the bottom were added.

If you unset the shop page in settings, the previous content will come back.

no as I explained that does not work

Go to settings > permalinks and save. Is it back then?

    no still not back

now none of my content is shown anymore. only the custom shop archive page with the product categories.

This setting controls the shop page https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/sr9ue7olt3a14k1/2016-06-14%20at%2012.15.png?dl=0

If that is not set, no shop page will be shown and the default post type archive (usually /products/) will exist.

Go edit your page and see what the URL is and ensure it does not conflict. You’ve not provided links here so I can only guess what you’re doing wrong.

As I said, I resetted that setting and no page was specified in that setting and all the URLs were correct.

I solved the problem by creating a new empty page and putting that new page as the archive shop page.

    Thanks for you help.
