WooCommerce Payments Currency Conversion

    Hey guys,

    I am building a WooCommerce site. It’s more or less done, but it does have a couple of errors to look at before going live.

    The site’s store is aimed worldwide and a few people were able to make some test purchases from other countries. When they were making said test transactions an error popped up for them (which I’m currently working on). They sent over a screenshot of this error and I noticed something else that I hadn’t even thought of.

    The store is based in the UK. When this person went to buy something that costs ￡7, it simply showed as $7. The same amount but in the wrong currency. I can only assume that this would be the case store wide, regardless of the customer’s local currency. This is the first time I’m building a WooCommerce site, so I am learning as I go.

    I wanted to ask if anyone maybe knows if there is an option somewhere in WooCommerce to change this so that the currency will automatically be applied and the amount adjusted in the correct currency for where the customer is based? Or is it a case to simply add a plugin for this fix?

    Any guidance or help with this would be massively appreciated!

    Normally, when you change your store currency in WooCommerce → Settings → Currency options, customers are supposed to be charged in that currency.

    I understand that in your case the currency symbol is changing but not the amount! May I know if you are using any additional plugins related to currency conversion? Could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

    Just checking – are you using WooCommerce Payments plugin? Please note that WooCommerce Payments is a separate plugin, it’s not part of WooCommerce core. You can get in touch with the WooCommerce Payments support team at https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/woocommerce-payments/

    WooCommerce Payments allows for “multi-currency”. You can check if this is enabled in
    WooCommerce > Settings > Multi-currency (Check this image)

    If it is, please delete the currencies you don’t want by clicking the trash bin.

    If the option is not enable, then, you can get in touch with the WooCommerce Payments support team at https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/woocommerce-payments/

    I do apologise for coming back to you so late.

    I have been working with other parties involved to help me with this.

    I have now created accounts with both Open exchange rates and API Layer. I wanted to add their API’s into the site to pull in the most accurate currency conversion amounts. I couldn’t see how to do this with either platform, so I asked them for a hand. Open exchange rates told me to ask in a woo commerce or WordPress forum for help as they can only help if there’s an issue with a particular exchange rate and API Layer haven’t responded to me at all.

    I know this is a bit off topic, but would either of you know where I actually place their API keys into the site. They provided a couple of lines of code too and I don’t know where to add those or if I need to add them anywhere at all?

    I have created a live staging environment of this site to have a play around. If it helps, here is the URL
