    Hello all,

After a WooCommerce Payments update, the plugin apparently logged out of my Stripe Express account. When logging back in, I accidentally used the incorrect email address and actually created a new Stripe Express account. Now I am unable to log out of this new account in order to log in in to my existing and functioning account!

All of the payment options listed under the WooCommerce Payments settings show “Pending activation” and, when going to the Payments Overview section under “Account details” it shows “Restricted”. Clicking “Edit details” takes me to the Stripe Express login page but with the (incorrect) email address entered. I can click “Sign in with another email” and enter the correct account email address, which logs me in, but when I go back to the WooCommerce settings it still shows the incorrect account. I’ve tried removing and reinstalling WooCommerce Payments plugin but the settings seem to be hardwired into WordPress somehow!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  • Hello,

It seems you’re experiencing a common issue where your WooCommerce Payments plugin has been linked to an incorrect Stripe Express account. Let’s work through this together.

Firstly, it’s important to note that the WooCommerce Payments plugin settings are indeed stored in your WordPress database, which is why reinstalling the plugin didn’t resolve the issue. The settings are preserved to prevent data loss in case of accidental deletion.

    Here are my suggestions:

    1. I recommend clearing your browser’s cache first, or using a different browser, before doing the steps below. Over time, the cache may take up a big chunk of your computer’s storage and will start having issues, so it’s always a best practice to clear it. Kindly refer to the steps in this guide, on how to clear the cache (just click on the browser you used that is encountering this issue):
      https://wordpress.com/support/browser-issues

You can leave the passwords unchecked if you saved your credentials on your browser to avoid losing them.?
    2. After clearing your cache, go to the Stripe express login (Stripe website and log in with the previous account instead of the new one).
    3. Once you are logged in with your previous account from Stripe’s website, go to your WooCommerce account and try to disconnect the new Stripe account again.
    4. Finally, log in with the previous account from your WooCommerce account, and see if it now fixes the issue.

If you’re still experiencing issues after following these steps, please don’t hesitate to get back in touch. We’re here to help!
