I need help to fix an issue with the Woocommerce PayPal Gateway plug-in that isn’t playing nice with my Woocommerce FedEx Shipping plug-in. The issue is IF shipping costs are calculated, and once you click the gold PayPal button, the site will just refresh the page. No popup of PayPal’s payment portal appears. If you start the order process over, reset the address as blank (where shipping charges would have to be re-calculated), click the gold button, then there is no issue. The PayPal portal will open just fine on the product page, Cart, and/or Checkout. You just can NOT have shipping charges calculated or else we’re back to the same issue. No PayPal portal popup.

I’ve narrowed it down to these two plugins. I’ve deactivated every plugin I have (other than WC itself, Paypal Gateway and FedEx shipping), changed the theme to 2019, and tested on all browsers including mobile, and it STILL exhibits this issue.

This issue exists on ALL products.

I’ve even hired a highly recommended/qualified dev that is a WP/WC expert, and the issue even beat him. Couldn’t find the error that was causing the issue.

I need some help. Site is LIVE. Can’t sell products until issue is rectified. Thanks.

  • I had trouble with it not playing nice with my Woocommerce Subscriptions plugin. I was never able to get it to work right, so I changed to this plugin: “WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway” by Woocommerce. It is free, easy to set up, and works perfectly.

I will give it a go again. I tried it first, and it created other issues. So I deleted it. It also didn’t get very good reviews at all. Everything from breaking the site to slowing down the backend and frontend. But what doesn’t work for others might just work for me. I never assume anything.

I appreciate you chiming in! It seems no one wants to help with this issue.

I was hesitant to use it because of the reviews, but it worked great for both my sites. Woocommerce is really fast about answering tickets – they even helped me with code via live chat. I’d reach out to them if you have trouble with their plugin.

Not sure exactly what is going on, but basically, I fixed the issue. I merely tried another cache plugin…then everything was fine. I’m not sure which was the culprit, but it appears that there is a delicate balance with the combination of plugins one might have. I found the sweet spot!
