• Using WooCommerce for cart and enabled PayPal standard for payment option. The landing page where WooCommerce sends customers to either pay with PayPal or a credit is sent to a page where YOU HAVE to use or create a PayPal account to pay.

I called paypal and they state it is an issue with the coding of where woocommerce is directing the paypal button.

You can’t get help from woocommerce because unless you have bought something from the YOUR are shut out of their support.

Is there a parameter somewhere that I override woocommerce be setting that perhaps I haven’t?

Or, worse, is the payment of credit cards via PayPal not supported in the “base” WooCommerce and I’ll need to get a premium extension.

Afraid so. Paypal standard lets customers pay with an existing account, or register to pay with a credit card.

@jameskoster you don’t need an account to pay ?? The text from the page states:

(Optional) Sign up to PayPal to make your next checkout faster

and there is a CC form
