WooCommerce product image doesn’t load

    I’m using a slightly modded child theme of twenty seventeen for my shop. When I visit a product the product image isn’t visible at first. I need to click the thumbnails before it appears. Then it seems to work fine.

    Not sure if it happens all the time. And not sure if it is WordPress, TwentySeventeen or an user error (if so, sorry in advance :)) But I’m starting here.

    Sorry for my vauge problem description. Hope someone can provide some help to get me in the right direction ??

  • The delay in the product image may just be the way the page renders. I went to the page and the cap appeared after a short delay, but there are a number of thumbnails to be loaded at the same time. I did not have to click anything to have the large product image appear initially.

    You may want to look at your woocommerce settings to see whether they might make a difference to load times.

    The images are quite large (the cap is over 2MB) so you may want to optimise them for the size you want to show them.

    Hi again and thanks for your reply!

    I’ve been testing this out for a while now and replaced the image with a smaller one. The total MB for the whole URL is about 1MB. But still the image doesn’t load as it should.

    One interesting thing is that it seems to work fine with Safari and Firefox but not with Chrome. I’ve tested it both in Chrome when I’m logged in and in the Private browsing window. The image takes forever or doesn’t load.

    I’m on a mac if that can make any difference.

    Any ideas?

    After much fiddling I disabled photon and that solved the problem.

    It also solved one other issue I had with images not loading at ful size. Have been using photon for a long time so I hope is’s being worked out.
