  • Hello,

Dashboard > WooCommerce > Settings > Product tab > Display

This is for version 3.2x and below. Since you have version 4.8.0, the display setting page is located in Appearance > Customize > WooCommerce > Product Images.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks for quick reply, but it does not seem to work. Native width of my uploaded main product image is 500px and Appearance > Customize > WooCommerce > Product Images > Main image width is set to 500px as well, but single product page resizes it to 600px which seems to be coming from woocommerce default described here (https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/image-sizes-theme-developers/). I’ve tried applying php filters described on that tutorial, but main product image still gets resized to 600px. I use basic Astra theme and do not think Astra overrides any image sizes. Any advice on how to change the main product image width? Thanks

    Hello,

The default image size is set to 500px, but themes can change the size where images are displayed with CSS. We recommend reaching out to the developer of the theme directly to get further help.

Astra theme developers referred that your default setting “Appearance > Customize > WooCommerce > Product Images > Main image width” should control image size, but it does not. When I change the setting to 500px, product page image size remains the same 600px.
It seems that the image is stretched to fit the width of the image container set within “.woocommerce-page div.product div.images.”, so this setting does not work. Are you aware of this issue?

@als1 I think there might be some confusion around what that setting accomplish. The size entered there will not modify your theme’s image layout or the image container”. It will only change the size that images will be cropped to after getting uploaded. So, the behavior you are seeing is expected. If the dimensions of the image itself are 500px but your theme has got a container of 600px, then the image will be stretched to fit that space.

We’ve not heard back from you in a while, so I’m marking this thread as resolved. If you have further questions, please feel free to open a new topic.
