• I there,

I’ll just drop here the issue I’ve raised to the WooThemes support theme and ask you to give me your thoughts on this issue.
I’m more than happy to provide you with this extension last version for testing purposes.

    Hi there again,

Returning to the original issue (the fact that Product Vendors is not compatible with WPML) i have new information that may help you guys solve this issue:

    – I’ve talked to the WPML guys and they said they’re going to talk to you in order to achieve this compatibility together.

    – I’m already using this plugin to ensure WooCommerce + WPML work nice together: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/woocommerce-multilingual/

I’m now working on a English (base language) + Portuguese (translation version) website and these are the problems I’m having:

    – When creating a vendor, i “must” (by WPML design) also create the translation for that vendor or else I won’t be able to associate the Portuguese version of the product with a vendor. I now get 2 vendors instead of 1 (the original + it’s translation) so I have commissions calculated separately, although this is really only one “true” vendor.

    – This also means each and every vendor configuration is set individually for each language version.

    – If I need to add a user as the vendor admin I also must add it to “both” vendors. Now this is a problem also because although in “both” vendors configuration (table wp_options > shop_vendor_x) the user_id is there, on the user side (table wp_usermeta > user_id > product_vendor) only the last configured vendor id is there. So, when the user tries to manage his products on wp_admin he actually can only manage one language version of the product because when he tries to edit the other one he gets “You do not have permission to edit this product. Click here to view and edit your products.”.

    – This last issue brings another kind of problems: when using the [product_vendors_total_earnings] and [product_vendors_month_earnings] shortcodes, the user can also only see the stats for the vendor language version he was last associated to.

    – There’s also a problem on the reports section, and I’m guessing this is also multilanguage related, that we cannot see individual vendors stats.

I may guess that this is only possible to solve by not using a taxonomy for the vendor but you may find a better way around this.

I also do not know, and I would very much like you guys to enlighten me, if this is something you’re willing to work on or this is something I should discuss with the “WooCommerce Multilingual” plugin author.

  • I’m assuming that the vendors are set as Custom Post Types? If you visit WPML > Translation Management > Custom Posts > can you set vender to Not Translate?

Alternatively can you duplicate the vendor into the secondary language?

There is no compatibility project in our internal ticket tracker on WC product vendors so it would be best for you to create a support ticket on WPML.org for a more thorough review of the issue.

    Hi there,

    Product Vendors are a taxonomy.
Products are a post (translated of course) so Product Vendors are forced to be translated too.

I’ve created the support at WPML.org about this and got a email from Helena Petridou confirming this.

Great, I can see our internal ticket has been registered. It may take time to resolve but as your in touch with Helena please refer to her for updates.

    Hi guys,

We are facing exactly the same problem with Product vendors and WPML…

How this fix with the guys of WPML is going?

We are waiting answer from the plugin author of the Product Vendors plugin about this. It may take time to resolve this.
