WooCommerce – recreate Media folders?

An admin of one of my websites decided it was a good move to delete the entire media library – almost 700 photos – as my webhost was having trouble with multiple image uploads.

(thankfully I have now moved to a new web host who is much better).

Unfortunately the website was not backed up (I know, I know…).

A lot of the images were used in WooCommerce products, so now none of his products have images. The images were originally uploaded into the default WordPress media folder structure (uploads > year > month) but of course now it’s months ago since the files were first uploaded, so simply re-uploading will not help as it will upload into current-date folders . Is there any way to mend this and to avoid editing each WooCommerce product individually?

OR is my only solution to re-upload all images (maybe NOT using the WordPress month and year folder structure), and then edit every Product to point to the right image?).
