    Hi,

    We have a restricted role for our staffs who manage shop orders, etc.

    We need to let them be able to manage(approve, unapprove, reply) product reviews and I realized that the role would need ‘edit_others_products’ and ‘edit_published_products’ permissions to do so.

    Then if we give those 2 capabilities, they will also be able to edit everything about products not only reviews.

    Is there a way to limit shop staffs to only manage product reviewss but not the products?

    I’ve been using WC for 6-7 years but I feel like there hasn’t been much improvement on the role functionality. I’ve been relying on a plugin called User Role Editor, but I wonder if they can do anything about this issue if the WC core sets up capabilities like this.

    Is there a way to limit shop staffs to only manage product reviewss but not the products?

    From the top of my head, I would use Admin Menu Editor Pro: It allows you to manage access to meta boxes by user / user role: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/admin-menu-editor/

    We already use Admin Menu Editor Pro in conjunction with User Role Editor but it doesn’t work. We already show only Products -> Reviews menu for customer service staffs.
    But when you go to Products -> Reviews, there’s a column called Products where you can click to enter the product edit page. Configuring meta boxes didn’t prevent entering the product edit page.
    It isn’t logical to not separate these capabilities. People who edit products and people who manage comments can be different especially for stores that have dedicated customer service staffs.
    If WC leave these capabilities combined then it looks like WC is aiming to cater only single-person stores.

    Correct, but you can trim down the product edit page for this user role. I would try and remove access for everything on the product edit page for that user role, leaving only the reviews.

    Yes I tried leaving only the reviews. But when I enter product edit page, there are still other boxes such as Product Title, Product Permalink, Product Body Editor which seem to be there by default and cannot be disabled by Admin Menu Editor Pro.
