• Hi all,

I have a dev site using the Canvas theme (it’s a Child theme, actually), and I attempted to change the Shop page in the Products/View settings area to a new page I created with my own WP products loop. That failed and when I switched it back, it seems that the Shop page with the original installed Woocommerce products page was gone. Does a shortcode need to go into the page or is there a quirk that I don’t know about?

Also, what template does the Shop page use? I’m so confused by this – it’s hard to understand where WP ends and Woo begins.

  • The Shop page is a blank page and doesn’t need a shortcode to do its stuff.

I think the substantive part of the shop page template is at woocommerce/templates/archive-product.php.

Just to confirm, you went to Admin page > WooCommerce > Settings > Products tab > Display > and set the Shop Page drop down to the name of your Shop page. The shop page exists in the list of pages, and its not in the page trash list.

Might be worthwhile just to reset permalinks. Go to Admin page > Settings > Permalinks, and click Save Changes, even though there are none.

I think next I would temporarily rename functions.php in the child theme to make sure there is nothing in there causing the problem.
