• The problem is that I have a block with 2 photos on the Shop edit page in WordPress, but when I update it is not showing on the Shop page of the site. What is showing on the website page is a photo, with link, that I did previously, before I had a 504 error message, and which now seems to be stuck there…
What I see on the live Shop page, it is not showing on the edit page, so i cannot remove it. I even tried to remove the Shop page completely, and then recreate it using you feature on the plug in.
The site is hosted on IONOS and they thinks that it is possibly an issue with the Woocommerce plug in, but they obviously cannot help.

I am using Astra free theme. I am not a web designer, and any help would be really appreciated, as I am now stuck, and I do not want to spend time adding products, if then I have to remove the page and start again.

UPDATE: I have now added a slate products as advised on the WooCommerce support page, but the issue regarding a different view still stand, and I have been advice to ask for support on the Astra forum.

  • Hello @alb673,

I’ve reviewed the screenshot you provided, and it seems that the shop page is created using the page editor. However, on the front end, it’s displaying the product category. This is because the shop is set up through WooCommerce configuration. You can view the configuration screenshot here:?https://i.imgur.com/VR15yI2.png.

Once the shop is set up via WooCommerce configuration, it essentially becomes an archive page. Archive pages in WordPress are default pages that can’t be edited using regular page builders or editors. However, you can create a template for the archive page using a page builder or by adding custom code to the child theme. Examples of archive pages include the blog, shop, search, and course pages.

For more details about WordPress archive pages, you can refer to the following articles:

You can now customize the shop’s appearance using the customize feature. For more details, you can refer to the following articles:

I hope this information helps you.

    Hi Avinash,

Thanks for the reply, and links. It all feels like a different language for me, as I am learning as I go along…

Hope I can sort it out

    Thanks

    Hello Alberto,

Yes, please give it a try.

Further, to achieve the desired outcome, you can simply remove the shop page configuration through the WooCommerce settings. This will allow you to edit the shop page as needed. You can refer to this screenshot for the configuration: [link to screenshot].

If you have any further questions or need assistance, feel free to ask!

    Kind regards,
    Avinash

    Hi Avinash,

Had a look at the links you sent me , but to be honest I do not understand it much.

When you said ” Further, to achieve the desired outcome, you can simply remove the shop page configuration through the WooCommerce settings. This will allow you to edit the shop page as needed. You can refer to this screenshot for the configuration: [link to screenshot].”

Did you mean NOT to select a page at all or to make another one?

I did try to make a Shop- page but i had the same issue, as before. I have now deleted to new Shop-

and Shop page edit and Shop page live now show the same photos style, without having nothing selected under WooCommerce-Settings-Products-Shop Page.

I seems to have similar issues with “products” which shows a different style photos, same as what It did before on Shop live page… That doesn’t seems to be a page but a category created by WooCommerce I guess?

To be honest the links to the products seems to be working it’s the visual that annoys me

    I have done some screenshots

    Hi @alb673,

In short, you cannot edit the WooCommerce Shop page. By WooCommerce Shop page, I mean the page you assign as a shop page from WooCommerce > Settings > Product tab. As seen in the screenshot previously shared.

I hope that clarifies and clears any confusion you may have.

    Kind regards,
    Herman ??

    Hi Herman,

    Thanks for your message.

Honestly, the confusion still stands. What you say seems to contradict “Further, to achieve the desired outcome, you can simply remove the shop page configuration through the WooCommerce settings. This will allow you to edit the shop page as needed” statement from Avinash in the previous reply.

I would have thought that If I make a new page called “shop” and delete the one automatically created by WooCommerce, if that is the conflicting issue, and and then assign it to be the shop page, it should look the way I want. It seems silly (as a non expert) that I am now stuck with something that i did on a different theme…

As I said, at least the links work, which is the main thing, but I still would like to understand what happened, and why it still stuck on a different view.

    Thanks

    Alberto

    Hi @alb673,

    I can understand the confusion.

Honestly, the confusion still stands. What you say seems to contradict “Further, to achieve the desired outcome, you can simply remove the shop page configuration through the WooCommerce settings. Yes, because once you remove the Shop page from the WooCommerce settings, this page will not be a WooCommerce Shop page. It is just a regular page that has Shop as a page title.

That’s why I tried to explain in my previous response by saying:

By WooCommerce Shop page, I mean the page you assign as a shop page from WooCommerce > Settings > Product tab. As seen in the screenshot previously shared.

When Avinash said “shop page configuration through the WooCommerce settings“, this is what I mentioned as “page you assign as a shop page from WooCommerce > Settings > Product tab“. Sorry if the term confuses you.

When say WooCommerce Shop page, it is the page where WooCommerce shows all of the products (and product categories). The page title itself, it could be anything you like and it doesn’t have to be Shop. And as I mentioned in my recent response, in short, we cannot edit WooCommerce Shop page.

This is how WooCommerce works. No matter what theme you are using, unless the theme itself “overrides” the default WooCommerce behavior, you will see the same thing.

I hope that clarifies and clears any confusion you may have. Let us know if you still need any assistance.

    Kind regards,
    Herman ??
