    Hi
I would like to add some variations (colour) that I used before of a variable product . When I added variation, it added new variations but when I would like to add the sku, I’ve got the message ‘Invalid or duplicated SKU.’
    Is there a solution to
    – re-add the previous variation by importing it or
    – to enter the sku ( remove the sku history ??)
    thanks
    Dimitri

    Hi @madeinmada4u,

You will see an invalid or duplicated SKU warning in WooCommerce when you try to enter a product with the same SKU as one you entered earlier and that can easily happen when you give two similar products the same SKU.

The SKUs must be unique so please make sure of that – from your dashboard “Woocommerce > Status > Tools” click on Delete orphaned variations, to see if that helps.

    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Thank you for your reply
I ran the Delete orphaned variations but same message.
    another solution, please?

    thank you

    Hi @madeinmada4u

I ran the Delete orphaned variations but same message.

Just to clarify, have you also made sure that each variation has a unique SKU? If there are any other products/variations using the same SKU, you could still get the same error.

    Hi
    Thank you for your reply
I exported the products and I can see that the variation already exist with the sku. Sorry.
How can I recall this variation (the old one with the sku) on the variable product with the good sku?
I tried by “add variation/ create variations from all attributes” but it created a new one instead of recall the old one.
    thank you

    Hi @madeinmada4u,

Maybe you could try this third-party plugin that advertises a more comprehensive feature of removing orphaned items from your database – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/advanced-database-cleaner/.

    * As a precaution, you can make a backup of your database prior to doing the above. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin.

Let us know how it goes.
    Thanks.

Yes it can be an idea, but when I check my database, I can find the variation with the good sku , how can I recall it ?

    Hi @madeinmada4u,

Please follow the advice from my colleague to clear orphaned items from your database. That plugin is ideal to perform a deep database clean-up and clear leftovers. You should then be able to import products without receiving the duplicate SKU warning.

Just a final note, when you delete a product you also need to empty the Trash as the data (including SKU) will not be removed from the database if the Trash is not emptied.

    Thanks.
