    Hello,

I have an issue with my website created with Flatsome theme : Woocommerce is still in english, even though the site language is set in French.

I have checked the settings the website’s language is French.

I have checked the translation’s updating, everything is up to date.

I have tried to change the theme, the issue is still the same.

I have tried to desactivate each plugin, the issue is still the same.

I have installed Loco translate plugin, I found the correct translations but they don’t appear in my website.

And when I go to the theme customizer, I can see that all my website is translated in french but when I leave it, the Woocommerce part goes back to English.

Can someone please help me ?

    Hello @alexandrejj,

Thank you for reaching out — we’re happy to help!

I appreciate the troubleshooting steps you’ve taken so far.

To further assist you, it would be very helpful if you could provide a short video that demonstrates the issue you’re encountering. This will allow us to see exactly what’s happening when the translations appear correctly in the theme customizer and then revert to English on your live site.

For video, you may use?https://loom.com?or?https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/. Please follow the instructions on that page and then paste the URL into this thread.

Thank you for your cooperation, and I look forward to your reply.

    Cheers!

Hi @alexandrejj – thanks for the additional details.

Translations should be matter of switching your WordPress site’s language to your preference; French, in this case. Here’s how translating WooCommerce works. After the switch, it will check for the associated WooCommerce language pack, and if it’s 95% or more translated, will automatically download, install, and start using it. I checked, French (France) is 100% translated, which indicates WooCommerce is not the issue.

In cases like these, there might be 1 of 2 issues at play:

    1. Your theme overrides some of the words. This would cause the “domain” of the word to change from woocommerce to your-theme-name. Because the WooCommerce language pack only translates words in the WooCommerce domain, it would explain why certain words (if added by theme) remain in English.
To verify: temporarily switch to a standard theme we know works: Storefront Theme. If all the WooCommerce-related words then appear in French, it would strongly implicate the theme as being the reason.
Solution: reach out to the theme developer for a fix, get a theme-specific language pack, or create a custom translation.
    2. The English content was added manually. Certain types of manually-added content doesn’t automatically translate. For instance, if you manually added the menu items or navigation elements, and did so specifically in English, it wouldn’t be identified as being translatable, certainly not via the WooCommerce language pack.
Solution: depending on the type of content, a custom translation might also work in this case, otherwise, you’ll need to go into your site’s admin, and find where the text appears, to translate it manually.

I hope the above is useful and helps you towards a solution. If not, let us know what you find, then we can advise on the next steps forward.

    Hi @alexandrejj

Thank you for letting us know. If switching to the default theme doesn’t resolve the issue, please try the following steps to identify if a plugin is causing the problem:

    • Deactivate all plugins except WooCommerce.
    • Switch to the default Storefront theme.
    • Change your site language to English (EN), then switch it back to French (FR).
    • Go to Dashboard > Updates and update the translations for the French pack.

If this doesn’t resolve it, you also have the option to upload the language FR file manually. You can find detailed instructions in this guide: Downloading Translations Manually.

Please try these steps and let me know if this helps!
