Woocommerce stock management issue

May I know I have enable the stock management in the woocommerce, how does it works?
1) if there is pending payment , will the stock deduct ?
2) if the customer cancel the order due to Unpaid order cancelled – time limit reached. will the stock add back to the system ?I have receive this email 3 units…… have been backordered in order #16817.while I did not allow backordered. and my stock level become -3.
The situation :
The initial product stock level :3
After the customer place the order it become : -3
Why it will happen and how could I prevent it happen ?
