Woocommerce Storefront store Categories display

  • hi everyone i am in need of some help. i am new to wordpress but have been getting the hang of it.

    ok so i am having problem trying to get 3-4 columns to show on my categories in the shop page on woo commerce using the storefront theme. i do have a child theme for it also. and even tho its running with only 2 columns it is still all spaced out for some reason. if anyone would like to throw me some help. all thats really left for me is setting up the rest of the storefront.

function customize_home_product_categories( $args ) {

    $args['limit'] = 4;
    $args['columns'] = 4;

    return $args;
}

    i added this to my child theme but it dose nothing
