I am working on a new website for a client and we need to configure stripe on his website. On this website, I am not able to connect stripe. When i click on ‘Connect Stripe Account’ button on stripe settings i can see following error message:

Could not create connection: Site token is required.

I configured Stripe on many website in past but I never encountered such error in past. Please confirm how can I get rid of this error.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

The connection to Stripe recently changed from being API key based to being token based. With this in mind, and just to be sure, have you already worked through the setup & troubleshooting guides as found at https://woocommerce.com/document/stripe/?

In addition, are you seeing any fatal error or debug logs for Stripe as found under WooCommerce > System Status > Logs?

    Thanks!

    Hello

I followed guide and there are no logs in WooCommerce->Status->Logs.

    Hi @sajiddesigner

Ensure you activate the debug mode in your Stripe settings or WordPress config file. If you don’t have these enabled, it won’t record any logs.

However, let’s clarify a few things to help you troubleshoot this issue since you’re setting it up on a new site.

    • Is your site’s SSL working fine?
    • Can you check whether your hosting provider is blocking incoming requests? You can test it by disabling ModSecurity.
    • Is your Stripe account active?
    • Is there any security or cache plugin active on your site?

In the meantime, I recommend disabling all plugins except for WooCommerce and Stripe. Then, temporarily switch to the Storefront theme. Once you’ve done that, try connecting your account again to see if it makes any difference.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
