    Hello and good day.

I have a woocommerce store already up and running.
Products are are already listed and configured for sales and shipping.

I installed the starter template plugin and choose your free woocommerce storefront template.

I loaded the demo data and the site comes up just fine.

However, its not pulling in my products.

It only seems to see its own demo content.

I also tried reinstalled and not including the demo content but the template is not displayiing as the demo template obviously.

My question is, how do I use your demo template layout while also displaying my own products in place of the demo products?

I have tried chanting the woocommerce shortcodes but it doesnt make a different.

I am using elementor page builder.

    Thank you.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @rayeason,

Importing a template to an existing site will never delete the existing content, unless the content is coming from the previous template imported to the site, including products. So, you should still have your existing products.

I checked the Shop page and I saw the other products. Refer to this screenshot, please.

Have you figured this out or did I miss something?

    Kind regards,
    Herman ??

    It didnt delete the products.

I didnt say that it did.

But the theme does not SEE the products either.

It’s only seeing the demo content that it imports.

I used the very same woocommerce shortcodes that are working on my production site and the demo template is not showing my products.

So my products are not being associated with the new theme.

You saw my products because I restored my copy ??

    I had to.

    How do we troubleshoot this?

    Hi @rayeason,

Please share with us the specific steps to replicate this so we can try to reproduce it on our end. If you can also do the same thing on a staging site then share with us the staging site URL, that would be helpful too.

Also, your existing products didn’t show up on the Shop page, right? And your Shop page uses the default Shop page, correct? I mean, you didn’t use a plugin like Elementor Pro to create a custom Shop page.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Kind regards,
    Herman ??

    The process is simple:

Use the free woocommerce storefront template
Have existing products in your store

    Install the Starter Templates plugin
Install the Starter Templates Free Storefront theme
Select all options (including import demo content.

I have created a video showing the steps, process and issue.

If neccessary, I will create a staging site.

The staging site will require more time for me to setup.

But the process is pretty basic.

    Hi @rayeason,

Thanks for the steps and video. Very clear!

Well, actually, as we know that the shortcode is coming from the WooCommerce plugin, so WooCommerce handles it.

As explained in this WooCommerce doc, the featured_products shortcode will display products that are marked as the Featured Products.

If you would like your existing products to be displayed when the featured_products shortcode is used, then please mark them as Featured Products. Refer to this screenshot, please.

    I hope it will help.

    Kind regards,
    Herman ??

No, that’s not what I said.

I said no shortcodes we’re working.

Not just the featured items short code ??.

I assumed you would have tried testing with any short code but I guess not.

As I said, NO products are coming up other than yours when using shortcodes.

This means all shortcodes. Not just the featured ??.

I know you are probably extremely busy with more important things, but I’d you could try testing it out, I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thank you.

    Hello and good day.

So I have sorta resolved the issue with this template.

It appears this particular template does not use the standard woocommerce shortcodes for the home page.

It uses [featured_products ] instead of what woocommerce has on their site (and what I have been using) which is [products visibility=”featured” ].

Any particular reason why the standard woocommerce short codes are not being used here?

I was able to resolve the issue however, it did cause a bit of confusion on the home page.

I also realized that your demo produducts were set as featured, so the demo content was pulling those images up first. After deleting the images, the issue with my content not showing has been resolved.

But I am still confused about the short codes the template uses.

    Hi @rayeason,

First of all, I am sorry, it didn’t mean that I don’t want to replicate this on my end. However, I understood your concern after watching your video. That’s why I decided to respond right away without replicating it on my end.

Actually, the shortcode we use on the Starter Template is a “standard” WooCommerce shortcode. If you check the WooCommerce doc I mentioned in my recent response, you will notice it. This is the screenshot I captured from the mentioned doc to show the shortcode used on the Starter Template.

As for the Featured Products, I also have attached a screenshot in my response about it. Sorry if it wasn’t clear enough, though.

Well, at least that your site is now working as you expected. Please mark this thread as Resolved and feel free to start a new thread if there is anything else related to this plugin we can help you with.

    Kind regards,
    Herman ??

Gotcha. I was assuming those shortcodes were not being used any longer by woocommerce.

I will keep that in mind.

    Thanks again.
