WooCommerce: Walk-A-Thon Entries & Donations

My client is having an annual charity marathon. I need to be able to sell 2 things on their site.

1. Participants will be able “buy” an entry (completely virtual product) into the marathon.
2. Non-Participants will be able to “donate” to a Participant that has bought an entry.

I was planning to use Cred Commerce to set up a form, so that a Participant will fill out their info. Using a system similar to your example, after they purchase this entry product, their name will be added to the website as running in the marathon. This part I think I can accomplish with the CRED commerce system + traditional WooCommerce checkout.

The tricky part is that once they have been added to the database, I need other site visitors to see that Mr. Runner is on that “Page of Runners.” Then a visitor needs to be able to donate money to Mr. Runner – so in essense, Mr. Runner is now a “product” available to purchase (via traditional WooCommerce shopping methods.)

So, I’m relying on CRED/Cred Commerce to to adding a user-submitted product to the WooCommerce overall shopping database. (I’m not planning for CRED Commerce to handle the “add to shopping cart”, only the “add to entire store”)

Does this sound like it will work?

And if not, has anyone done something similar (perhaps in a simpler way) with a different plugin solution?
