• I use the free Bueno Theme by https://www.woothemes.com/
Am I allowed to change the colors by myself?
Am I allowed to change some things in the PHP code?
Does the information “Designed by Woothemes” has to stay in the footer or am I able to delete it?
If I changed the template a bit, do I have to note this on the page?
I am a very beginner with wordpress but my problem is, that I don’t know what my rights are when I have a free template under the GNU license.

Ok, about the logo in the footer I know now, thanks.
    But what about the colors?

if you understand PHP code, then you can change it very easily, but i am not clear that it is legal or not

    That’s why I am asking…

You should contact WooThemes themselves and ask. Normally if it’s distributed under a free license, then it’s fine to change any parts of the theme.

As far as I know, WooThemes are all GPL-licensed. Thus, per the license, you are free to modify them however you like.

Yes, when your under the GPL-License then you are free to edit/modify/delete/transition/ect from whatever source you are using. You are just not allowed to sell it or use it commercially without consent of it’s origin.

Even if you ‘buy’ a template, you are allowed to modify it and use it to the full extent. You cannot just reproduce, resell, giveaway, or modify it in a malicious way without the consent of it’s origin.

Thus said, get to coding ??

You are just not allowed to sell it or use it commercially without consent of it’s origin.

Uh, no. That is 100% WRONG

You can distribute GPL code, modified or unmodified, free or for-cost.

You cannot just reproduce, resell, giveaway, or modify it in a malicious way without the consent of it’s origin.

Where did you get this? This information is utterly wrong. I would recommend reading the GPL. Again:

The GPL explicitly allows distribution, of modified or unmodified code, either for free or for-cost.
