    Hello,

Yesterday, our service started to receive requests from customers that they were unable to login to our service and are seeing a 403: Forbidden WordFence error.

This is not happening for all users, just some.

We are currently unsure if this issue is on our end or something has happened where WordFence has inexplicably blacklisted certain IPs.

Note: I believe most of our users will have been connected to our campus VPN network at the time of sign-in.

Here’s a sample list of IPs affected:

144.92.38.231 (most of the affected users are assigned this IP while connected to VPN)
    144.92.254.227
    10.130.178.71

We are hoping to get some details from you on why these IPs are getting blocked and what we can do to unblock them. Please let me know if you require any additional info.

    Hi @jennaklinner

VPN IP address 144.92.38.231 was on our IP address blacklist for 25 hours from the 15th of July.

Its possible the blacklisting could be due to false positive reporting if multiple instances of the Wordfence plugin have not been configured to detect IP addresses correctly and we saw incoming attacks coming from this University of Wisconsin VPN IP address.

The IP address blacklist is a premium feature and we are not allowed to discuss premium feature issues in the forum. I see that the University of Wisconsin has a large amount of premium license keys so you will need to ask for premium support at https://support.wordfence.com and we can help you.
