Hello. If I install and activate the Wordfence plugin, does it add any additional time to my home page load time?

I don’t see any plugin files loaded by the browser. But that doesn’t mean the plugin isn’t doing things elsewhere to increase page load time.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hey @carlgross,

Wordfence shouldn’t cause any front end load times. If you temporarily disable it does it clear up the issue?

Do you see any error in the browser console? If so, can you please share screenshots?

@wfgerald Thanks for the reply. And sorry, but I perhaps wasn’t 100% clear in my original post. Wordfence is not causing any issues that I’m aware of. I’ve inherited a site with both Wordfence and the iThemes Security plugin. They both have a lot of overlapping features, so I was doing a little research to see if I could perhaps remove one. One main item I was investigating was whether either plugin added any additional time to front-end page load. If yes, that could be a big factor that determines which plugin stays and which goes ??

I’ve already asked iThemes the same question (see here). Someone seemed to say that by default, no iThemes actions should occur during front-end page load. But in rare cases, some may inadvertently occur during page load. I was given some diagnostic tools to check if that does indeed occur, and also given other instructions how to resolve it. So in-short, iThemes does not (or at least should not) add any additional time to front-end page load.

So from your reply, I guess I can take away that Wordfence should not add any additional time to front-end page load. Would that be accurate?

    Hey @carlgross,

This is correct. Wordfence shouldn’t add any additional load time to your front end load time. However, if you do run into any issues, please let us know.

    Thanks,
