    Without any security plugin I don’t see any bad bot or other bad ip’s on my stats ever. When I install Wordfence or Ithemes, I see a lot of baddy ip’s on my site, it seems that Security plugins attracks more bad bots and abuse ip’s than without

    – The dashboard widget says 75 are blocked from one ip. Dashboard in Wordfence said 10 blocks from one ip
    That is very weird

  • How exactly are you identifying “bad bot” or “bad ip” in your “stats” while not running security application? I’m not understanding your point, or your question. MTN

    @mountainguy2
    I had installed wordfence ! Now not anymore.
    I see in my stats an ip I check and I land on a page abuse and the ip is there many reported.

    https://www.abuseipdb.com/

    When Wordfence or Ithemes or other plugin is installed I see many abused Ip adresses
    example

    Wordfence on
    I see Ip adress 123.4.567.89 in my analytics, I typ this in above link abuseip.com and see ip does web attack or spam or webspam

    Wordfence off
    I never see Ip adress 123.4.567.89 never in my analytics

    It seems to be that abuse ip hackers bots are searching for Websites who have security plugin installed and target it

    Hi @haydrionrayel!

    Assuming this isn’t just a coincidence, how are you loading the analytics code? The only reasonable explanation I can come up with for why you’d see more bad IPs in analytics when you have a security plugin installed would be that the analytics code is loading on block pages. Anything that was previously a 404 could end up having a different response code with a security plugin installed. This is purely hypothetical, I haven’t tested it.

    Why would attackers be looking for websites that have a security plugin installed?

    Hi @haydrionrayel,
    Since we haven’t heard from you for a while I’m going to go ahead and resolve this thread for now. If you have any other questions or concerns at any point, feel free to start a new thread. Thank you!
