• Am running Wordfence 5.2.7
When I go to Blocked IP’s there is nothing in IP’s blocked from site or IP’s blocked from Login, and one entry from nearly 2months ago in throttled IP’s.
There have been IP’s that have attempted login (seen on the Live Traffic Tab) which breaks the wordfence login rules and they should have been blocked, but they do not appear in any of the lists. When I try to manually block the IP’s, I enter the IP (I checked it is not in the list that Wordfence won’t block), click Manually Block IP and it says Wordfence working, then finishes and the IP has not been added to any blocked lists. Please help!

  • We probably need you to enable your java console on your local computer.

    (here’s how just in case:
    https://www.java.com/en/download/help/javaconsole.xml )

The page may be loading just the tabs and java is halted. In the console you will likely see a red error message showing what is hanging up. Let me know what that says.

Hi, The Java is now enabled, but there is no change and no console starts when viewing the page. I am using FireFox 32.0.3, and have Java v7 Update71.
I may not have been completely clear before, the Tab “IP’s that are blocked from accessing the site” displays the Java Wait icon for a few seconds, then say “No IP addresses have been blocked yet. If you manually block an IP address or if Wordfence automatically blocks one, it will appear here.”, however when I attempt to manually add an IP it says “Wordfence is working” down the bottom, then this goes away and nothing is added to the “IP’s that are blocked from accessing the site” which is where it should be added. Even after refreshing the page there is still the “No IP addresses have been blocked yet..” message.
There is no Java Console started after enabling the setting as you mentioned, so I suspect this just means there are no errors, if I start the console by viewing a different page like the verify Java page, it does not change when viewing this Wordfence page, or attempting to add an IP.

I have the same issue. The failed login attempts show on the “Live Traffic” although that option is disabled. I don’t see any automatically added IPs on the “Blocked IPs” section. However, if I click the “block” link in the live traffic for those failed logins, then they do appear in the “Blocked IPs” section. How can I know if WordFence is working properly and automatically blocking IPs as they attempt to login and fail?

@halex Productions…Blocked IP’s expire after a user defined period unless the blocks are made permanent. The default time is 5 minutes. Does that answer?

Yes, that’s what I thought, but our user settings block out 1 month for the Firewall Rules and 60 Days for the “Login Security Options”, we also added user names to block immediatelly at the “Immediately block the IP of users who try to sign in as these usernames” and these should be blocked for the 60 Days, but the IPs don’t appear in the “Blocked IPs” section in any of the 3 tabs you have that section. Hence, I’m not sure if the plugin is working to really block those attempts.

So the reiterate, the Live Traffic tab shows the IPs that try to login and where supposedly blocked, the Dashboard shows the failed login attempts, but the “Blocked IPs” tab shows nothing, as no IPs where actually blocked.

I should mention this behavior happens in both single site and multi site.

How can we test if the IPs are actually being blocked?
