• Hello Guys,

I’ve been using Wordfence on my website for the past 1 year. Wordfence was set up after careful evaluation. We have also blocked some IPs and specific Domains.

However, Wordfence doesn’t seem to block those domains or IPs I’ve blocked. Please advice.

  • Hi @peter1777,

Can you go into Wordfence -> All Options -> How does Wordfence get IPs, verify that Detected IP(s) is your IP address?

Find your IP: https://www.google.com/search?q=what+is+my+ip -> compare it to the one in Detected IP(s)

Can you also take a look within Wordfence -> Tools -> Live Traffic? Compare the IP address detected in the row to your blocking list found in Wordfence -> Firewall -> Blocking.

    Hello Dave,

Thank you for your prompt response! Yes, Detected IP shows my IP. Yes, I cross-referenced the IPs in Live Traffic and Blocking, and the IPs are being blocked.

But I also have blocked some domains using Wordfence -> Firewall -> Blocking -> Custom Pattern -> Hostname

Wordfence doesn’t seem to block these.

    Hi again,

Can you take a screenshot of the row in live traffic that is supposed to be blocked (but isn’t getting blocked)?

It may be the referrer and not the hostname, also you may need to use * at the beginning and end of the hostname to capture all similar hostnames.

    Try:

    – putting the block in referrer
    – putting * around the hostname/referrer

    For example:

    – Hostname: *example.com*
    – Referrer: *example.com*

    Put them as separate patterns.

    Hello Dave,

I did what you’ve asked for.

    Please check the screenshot https://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/3900152/14cd223691f6dc302bb673eaafbd322c

    Hi again,

I don’t see anything related to the domain you mentioned in the screenshot.

Are you saying that you blocked 137.74.4.69 in your firewall, and that it’s still showing up in live traffic?

Can you take a screenshot of your firewall blocking rules?

    Dave
