Wordfence blocks ftp (ssl/tls) uploads
-
I have this Issue with uploading files that I want to share here, just in case somebody else has the same problem:
problem for me exists with:
– Coda 2 (as editor and ftp-client) –> probably will be the same problem with any other ftp-client, but I haven’t tried.
– ftp-connection with ssl/tls
– wordfence firewall activatedwhat happens:
I upload a file (i.e. functions.php) via ftp (ssl/tls) – the file is being created on the server, but remains emtpy (zero KB).
For some reason this happens only with files bigger than 4KB.solution A)
Switching to unencrypted ftp-connection. Which is obviously not a good solution.solution B)
Deactivating Wordfence-Plugin while uploading files and turning it back on after uploads are done. This solution is also not quite handy. Is there anyone else who had this problem and is there a more elegant and secure way to solve this?
Does anyone have a technical explanation why exactly this happens?
