Hello! My wordpress website has suddenly given me some troubles.
    1) Comments on the blog posts are no longer displayed
    2) The Media Library is blank, even though I’m still allowed to upload images
    3) Wordfence has me frozen out in the backend of the site

I’m wondering if one of my plugins is the problem, but I am not a developer, so I’m unsure. I visited the Wordfence plugin’s dashboard page in the backend of my wordpress website, and it displays 1) an orange bar at the top asking me to Review the terms of use and privacy policy and 2) a blue popup asking me to do the same thing (review the policy changes), but neither of the buttons work.

How do I resolve these issues? Any tips, tricks, or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Chris

Hi @cam247, thanks for reaching out to us on this.

I don’t suspect that Wordfence itself is causing the problems you describe but it is being clearly affected. Are you running WordPress 5.5? If so, these Javascript errors may have been due to a recent jQuery Migrate deprecation in WordPress 5.5 that hasn’t been rectified yet in one of your other installed plugins.

It may help to install the Enable jQuery Migrate Helper plugin below to see if the issue is resolved:

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/enable-jquery-migrate-helper/

You may also find this useful:

If the above doesn’t fix the issue, disable all plugins other than Wordfence to see if you’re able to confirm the terms/privacy policy. If so, reactivate your other plugins one by one to see if any further issues with Wordfence arise. To do so I recommend the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin which allows you to disable all plugins and switch to a default theme, but only for your user to prevent downtime for other site visitors.

    Thanks,

    Peter.

Thank you @wfpeter! Installing your recommended Enable jQuery Migrate Helper plugin worked like a charm! That resolved issues #2 and #3 (Media Library in grid mode is now visible and the Wordfence plugin is working like normal).

As for issue #1 (comments unseen on my blog), well, I’m still in trouble there.
I tried deactivating all plugins and refreshing the website, but they still do not show up.

Any thoughts/comments/suggestions off the top of your head?

Again, thank you so much for that first tip. It ended up lifting a lot of stress off my shoulders getting those 2 other issues fixed!

Hi @cam247, that’s great news on those issues.

With the comments, to me it looks like a potential theme issue. Were you able to switch to a default theme like Twenty-Twenty during your tests and see if those comments show up? If they do, I would contact your theme developer to see if they have any updates lined up; they may even be able to tell you some code to include to return them.

As you can see the comments counter visible, I don’t think the problem is too serious as they’re still present in your database so the theme seems like a reasonable conclusion at this stage.

    Thanks,

    Peter.
